WHAT MAKES THE KERMADECS A SPECIAL PLACE – Karen Baird
This is a public meeting run by the Auckland Central branch volunteers.
Forest and Bird has a major campaign which employs Karen to work in partnership with Pew Environment Trusts’ Global Legacy project and jointly with WWF-NZ to promote the Kermadec region as an arera of high biological diversity.
The branches are reporting on this campaign to their members.
Even if you have attended any of the other branch meetings with Karen talking about the Kermadecs, this meeting promises to have new information following Karen's recent visit to the area.
Karen is an excellent photographer and this meeting will have good illustrations of her work and the Kermadec area. Click here for a look at a slideshow of her gorgeous photos!
Or go to this link http://blog.forestandbird.org.nz/listening-for-leviathans/#more-1756 to read Karen's blog about a trip to Kermadec Trench to monitor whales, or this link http://www.thekermadecs.org/news-and-blogs/blog to follow the actual on-board daily progress of the trip.
Meeting is at Parnell Community Centre in Parnell Road (old Blind Institute behind museum).

Afternoon tea follows the meeting.
