This tree planting day has become an annual tradition at what is one of the stunning parks in central Auckland. With large areas of open grassland, the park is blessed with 2 beautiful creeks which drain into the Pollen Island Marine Reserve.
In recent years the Auckland Council and Heron Park Advisory Group has worked hard to replace the weeds with New Zealand's wonderful array of native plants.
Come along for a morning of tree planting with members of the Advisory group and Auckland Council staff. Over 800 trees are due to be planted. Please wear warm clothing and sturdy shoes. Bring a spade and garden gloves if you can.
Light refreshments will be available.
Please contact David Bowden, Park volunteer and biodiversity coordinator at the Auckland Council for further information. Should the activity be cancelled or postponed due to bad weather, please phone the call centre on 09 301 0101 to confirm.
Address Please meet at the Cadman Place carpark, Waterview. Go past the playground to the planting site (can't miss it).
