The Ranui Community House hosts a fun friendly farmers market every friday evening from 3.30pm to 6.30pm winter and 4.30pm to 7.30pm in the summer.

Planting native trees is fun, gives Nature a helping hand, and improves the habitat for birds and wildlife! Once again, KAIPATIKI PROJECT, the Environment Centre of the North Shore, invites the local community to help plant trees in beautiful Eskdale Reserve Network in Birkdale/Glenfield.
Jim O'Gorman, the founder of Dirt Doctor is coming to Auckland!! He will be leading a weekend "Urban Eden Workshop" on September 4th and 5th sharing his soil-focused sustainable food production methods with the community. This workshop covers the complete Dirt Doctor method. Those attend will also receive insights from award winning Landscape Architect Carl Pickens, who will join Jim with a two part discussion on sustainable garden design and permaculture.
The HazMobile is a free service for householders who want to dispose of their unwanted hazardous materials safely and responsibly. The HazMobile visits a public car park on specific dates to receive household and garden chemicals, waste oil, batteries, lead based paints and other products that can potentially harm people or the environment.
Join the Supporters of Tiritiri Matangi and and some enthusiastic amateur astronomers for a special evening of wildlife watching and star gazing on Tiritiri Matangi. There may be a chance to spot a kiwi, little blue penguin or even a tuatara, as well as having the night sky interpreted by astronomy enthusiasts and their telescopes. This event was booked out in days of being advertised last year, so don't delay in securing a place.
The Annual General Meeting of Tawharanui Open Sanctuary Society Inc will be the feature on the first Sunday of September, but there are still 10,000 plants in the nursery that need planting in Twin Hills at Tawharanui Regional Park and we will put a large dent in this total with your help on Sunday, the fifth September!

Healthy Child, Healthy Planet is a Playgroup and Parenting Course in ONE!
Kaipatiki Project is hosting these talks (and play) on the first Tuesday of the month from May to October 2010 at its Environment Centre in Birkdale. Toys are available to occupy small children while parents listen to subject experts, ask questions and meet like-minded people.

Bring: Gloves, water, a packed lunch. Wear sturdy footwear and trousers rather than shorts. If possible bring a spade but this is not essential.
Meeting Place: Second footbridge along Leigh coastal walkway. Vehicles can be parked near the Leigh wharf (Hauraki Rd) or you can access the walkway via Ferndale Rd.

180 students from Auckland Normal Intermediate are undertaking a beach cleanup at Muriwai Beach and Maori Bay with support of the Auckland Regional Council park rangers.
Join the party and help clean East Coast Bays beaches. Assemble at Constellation Drive, Albany.

19 SEPTEMBER 2010 – PEST CONTROL AT KEPA BUSH - Join us at Kepa Bush to learn about this piece of bush ‘hidden’ in central Auckland and animal tracking tunnels. A specialist will help us undertake a survey of the existing tracking tunnels (and other equipment) to see how the animal pest control efforts are working. This will be hands on experience for the children and will contribute to the Council’s statistics! Then take home a tracking tunnel to try in your own backyard!
WHAT MAKES THE KERMADECS A SPECIAL PLACE – Karen Baird
This is a public meeting run by the Auckland Central branch volunteers.
Forest and Bird has a major campaign which employs Karen to work in partnership with Pew Environment Trusts’ Global Legacy project and jointly with WWF-NZ to promote the Kermadec region as an arera of high biological diversity.
The branches are reporting on this campaign to their members.
Even if you have attended any of the other branch meetings with Karen talking about the Kermadecs, this meeting promises to have new information following Karen's recent visit to the area.

Seventy staff from Coca Cola will be doing a cleanup around the coast of Browns Island with the support of the Waitemata Cleanup Trust and Sustainable Coastlines.

Be a tidy Kiwi and Keep NZ Beautiful on our CleanUp Day at Tony Segedin Reserve. This is a large local green with bush and walkways through the mangroves on the banks of the Whau River. The Whau is part of the vast area known as Te Wao nui o Tiriwa or The Great Forest of Tiriwa and is part of a community-led project to protect the catchment.
