Planting native trees is fun, gives Nature a helping hand, and improves the habitat for birds and wildlife! Once again, KAIPATIKI PROJECT, the Environment Centre of the North Shore, invites the local community to help plant trees in beautiful Eskdale Reserve Network in Birkdale/Glenfield.

From vegetables and fruit, to fish, salad dressing, cheese, olive oils, jams, strawberries and more, there is a story behind every product you buy.
By ignoring the grim weather forecasts for Queen's Birthday weekend, TOSSI members, park supporters, and a hundred Sea Scouts planted over five thousand new trees in the Twin Hills area of Tawharanui Regional Park on Saturday and Sunday. Each day, they enjoyed a barbeque lunch in support of their efforts. The recent rain has made the ground soft enough for good planting and will be ideal for tree survival this winter.

The HazMobile is a free service for householders who want to dispose of their unwanted hazardous materials safely and responsibly.
In some areas of New Zealand, the HazMobile visits a public car park on specific dates to receive household and garden chemicals, waste oil, batteries, lead based paints and other products that can potentially harm people or the environment.

NSCC community planting days are in full swing but there’s still plenty of opportunity for you to help out during July and August. The voluntary events are proving an inter-generational activity, attracting preschoolers through to grandparents, demonstrating to all ages the importance of looking after our environment for the future.
Join members of the St. Lukes Environmental Protection Society (STEPs) and Morphum for last community planting day this winter at Meola Creek. The day aims form a medicinal garden with native plant species.
