About the site

Our Purpose

The purpose of ecoevents is to enable and enhance participation in collective action for the environment, towards a greener, more natural and sustainable Auckland for people and native species.

Our Vision

Our vision is that Aucklanders will participate more in action for the environment, thus increasing their knowledge and feel connected to their local environment and community. Those groups and organisations dedicated to this work will feel supported and part of a wider and linked community, individual and agency effort.

How does ecoevents work?

Our mission is to connect people in the Auckland region to environmental activities.

People who want to take part or lend a hand can use ecoevents to find an activity, understand what is required (e.g. do you need to bring gumboots? Are children welcome?), and work out where to go, and what time.

Registered member organisations can use ecoevents to publicise their activity or event, seek volunteers, or simply let other environmental organisations know what they are up to. Submitting news and events is simple. Click here to find out more.

Who are we?

The ecoevents concept is one developed by representatives of Waitakere, Auckland and North Shore City Councils the Auckland Regional Council (ARC) the Department of Conservation and Forest and Bird. Click here to find out more about our team.

The content of ecoevents comes entirely from the collaborative efforts of the site members (see member organisations). It is not “owned” by anyone. ARC monitors and moderates the site.
